I'm definitely picking up this soundtrack.
What a shock!
Sorry I just had to.
MW2's success will come down to how much IW innovates. If it turns out to be COD4.5 then it won't win game of the year, if they add some new element to spice up the gameplay then it very well might get game of the year.
I'm going to call vaporware on this one. It's just a guess but since we haven't heard anything in two years of supposed development I'm betting nothings going to happen. We'll know for sure after E3 though. If nothing is announced there then we know it's all bull since no game spends 3 years in pre-development, except for DNF that is.
It's way too early to be calling this category. Granted Killzone has done a fairly decent job of not be consumed and annihilated by its hype train, MW2, ODST, and Bioshock 2 will offer some stiff competition.
It'll probably come down to whether or not the aforementioned titles innovate. If MW2 just turns out to be a COD4 clone or Bioshock's story fails to live up to the original or ODST's setting and new protagonist don't spark any revolutions, then Killzone might get it.
Wait, now I can't tell, is this a special edition with new, and better box art, or it that a cover for the game when you preorder it like with Bioshock and Far Cry?
Nintendo, taking misleading statistics to the next level.
Replace LA Noire, a game we haven't heard about in forever, with Uncharted 2, a game coming from a more reliable studio (Naughty Dog).
And there is nothing dodgy about the PS3 version of Bioshock, the games graphics are just outdated.
I was hoping the melee system would make it's way into online. The cinematic fist fights are one of my favorite parts of Uncharted.
You can't push boundry of what's possible without crossing some lines. I just hope this game gets a publisher so we can see how this little experiment in politically charged video games turns out.
Wasn't this a Boondocks episode?
I'm apprehensive about all this. I like the idea of the multiplayer, but 4v4? That number seemed small when Gears came out with it and it seems small now. Then again, stills don't do multiplayer justice, only videos do. I don't even know what to make of the coop yet.
I hope one of the larger websites like IGN or Kotaku come out with impressions of the multiplayer and coop and not just a laundry list of features that tell us nothing about how the game works.
You're right it is a success, but put it into perspective.
GeOW2 sold as many copies as Killzone 2 in less than two days. In 48 hours, Gears two had an attach rate of about 7%, after two months, Killzone 2 has an attach rate of about 5%. That's the difference between success and massive success.
But again, there's no legitimate reason for gamers to care about sales figures, only about whether or not they're having the most fun with the consoles/games available to ...
I guess I'll be 'that' guy who defends the author. He's not referring to the game's critical success or failure, as some of you have inferred, but rather as to its success as a killer app that sells consoles. This game, along with MGS4, FF13, and later on LBP, were supposed to be the games that sold 4 million + and put the PS3 on the map.
But Killzone didn't, it sold between 1-2 million copies worldwide, which is excellent, but not the overwhelming success Sony hoped for. In t...
Also they make you look cool.
I'm not sure this list is complete without mentioning one of, or collectively, the thousands of pieces of useless crap in an Elder Scrolls game or Fallout 3.
I feel the same way as the author.
*spoiler*
I was royally pissed when Rico killed of Visari, he was my favorite character! Long live Brian Cox! I just hope that in the next Killzone we get to play as a Helghast and kill off Rico.
There's no Best Buy where I'm living now so this is good news for me.
There is also Bioshock, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Half Life, and Mass Effect.
Maybe this is good news since it gives us an indication of when sites I have actually heard of will review inFamous.
